In current vehicles, an OBD socket is present and is mostly used for data collecting or diagnostics. Unfortunately, Car thiefs may programme new keys into the vehicle by simply connecting to and manipulating the connection.

It is a covert method that leaves no visible traces of damage and is all too often used in conjunction with lock picking of the driver’s door, rendering unprotected vehicles particularly vulnerable.

The OBD port protection device is a tried-and-true security mechanism for restricting access to the OBD port. To prevent unauthorised access, the OBD port on the Device is discreetly covered by a steal case, and it can only be unlocked with the appropriate high security key.
