The PedalBox was created to help prevent car theft. Advanced thieves use key programmers to bypass the vehicle’s immobilisation system and take the complete vehicle. Some automobiles have the ECU accessible from beneath the wheel arch, and criminals are replacing the vehicles’ ECUs with their own, allowing them to open and drive away with a whole different set of keys.
